Policies
Services: Lawn Mowing, String Trimming, Bed Mulching, Shrub Trimming, Spring & Fall Clean-ups and Snow Plowing.
Communication: Please e-mail, call, or write for correspondence. To change services please give at least 24 hour notice for the changes to be made.
Mow Days: We work Monday thru Friday. Our crews are in certain areas on certain days, so we will be at your lawn on the same day every week. As we add customers, it may change, so we cannot guarantee a time of day, and might change your day without notice, but will keep it as close to the original day as possible.
Holidays: We feel that you do not want to be interrupted on a holiday with our crews in your lawn. We will work longer hours on a week that has a holiday to get your lawn mowed before the holiday arrives. If you want us to skip your lawn until the next scheduled mow, just give us a call or e-mail us, Please do not leave a voice mail and assume that we will get the message before we arrive at your lawn.
Payments: We accept cash, personal checks, and company checks. In the event a check is denied for non-sufficient funds a $30.00 returned check fee will incur in addition to the amount originally due. In the event that it is necessary to use an attorney to collect a debt, the property owner, customer, or agent will be responsible for paying all collection charges and expenses, including reasonable attorney charges and court cost that Stump's Lawn Care incurs in the collection of the amount owed, to the extent permitted by law.
Damage: If there is any property damage by our crew, the most common being hidden sprinkler heads, please contact us immediately, with-in 24 hours, so we can make a timely professional repair at our expense. We will not honor any request for repair expenses for damaged property that we were not made aware of and allowed to rectify beforehand. If we are unable to repair the problem professionally we will make arrangements to hire someone who is qualified.
Lawn Access: Your gate must remain unlocked for the day we are there to mow. If you prefer not to unlock your gate, we recommend that you use a combo lock and that you provide us with the password or combination. There is no discount for inaccessible areas due to locked gates, construction, vicious pets, etc. Request to come back and mow an area that was previously inaccessible will result in a $25.00 trip charge in addition to the cost of the individual service. We appreciate you letting us know if you have any pets that are kept outside so that our crews will be aware of them. Our crews will make every effort not to let your pet through the gate, but we cannot guarantee your pet will not escape from your yard. Please leave your pet inside on your scheduled service days. All areas to be serviced should be free from trash, paper, toys, garden hoses, tools, pet droppings, large bones, large rocks, etc. If hit by a lawn mower, objects like these in your lawn are hazardous to our workers and others. Serious damage can occur to your property, our equipment or our crews. Stump's Lawn Care will not pick up these items prior to servicing your property unless this cost is already included in our agreement. Trampolines, playhouses, hammocks, lawn furniture, ladders, grills, bikes, hose carts, etc. will be moved the first time into a finished lawn area. They will not be moved back into their original location and the property owner, customer, or agent is responsible for ensuring the trampoline, playhouse, hammock, lawn furniture, etc. is safe before returning it to use. Stump's Lawn Care encourages you to rotate your items so that areas that were not serviced on the previous week due to the above can be serviced the following week.
Complaints: If our work is not satisfactory, or you think that we did not show up, we do not give credits, but we will send a crew back to redo the lawn without additional charge, either the same day or the next day if you will call or e-mail a short courteous request! However, we must know within 24 hours of the service. If you do not notify us in 24 hours, we consider the work to be satisfactory for that trip and will talk with the crew about your concerns for the next trip.
Rain: We try to finish our routes unless it is pouring rain all day, in which case we will push our scheduled work back one day and use Saturday to catch up for the week.
Changes: You must make changes 24 hours before your mow day for the changes to become effective.
Weeds: Cleaning out your flower beds is not part of the mowing service.
Bi-Weekly Service: Bi-weekly mowing services are offered, but we do not recommend this service. We will not cut grass shorter than the industry accepted standards, which recommends only cutting 1/3 off the grass height each mowing. Bi-weekly servicing leads itself to such problems such as clumps of grass, or appearing to be an uneven cut in the lawn. Unfortunately, we will not be able to send crews back to correct these issues or guarantee these services as we do on our weekly services.
Insurance: Our trucks and equipment are fully licensed and insured.
Pools: There is no deduction if you build a pool and decrease the size of your lawn. Servicing a home with a pool actually creates more trimming and less open areas to mow. However, we will not raise your rate.
Cancellations: There is no obligation on either party to begin or continue services, unless there is a contractual agreement whereas that contract will discuss cancellations of service. If you sign up as a customer, we consider you a customer from season to season until you cancel. Cancellations must have a 24 hour notice during business hours, no weekend cancellations for the following Monday. Please no voice mail cancellations if your scheduled mow day is within 24 hours of the cancellation. Our crews prepare for the next day and might not get your cancellation notice in time.
Fertilizer / Weed Control: In an effort to do what we do best, we do not apply fertilizer / weed control.
